WHO ARE WE ?
WHAT IS HUMAN TRAFFICKING?

A compassionate commerce space dedicated to broadening the conversation about human trafficking.  Human trafficking, in the US as defined by the US Department of Justice is "a crime that involves compelling or coercing a person to provide labor or services, or to engage in commercial sex acts. The coercion can be subtle or overt, physical or psychological.  Exploitation of a minor for commercial sex is human trafficking, regardless of whether any form of force, fraud, or coercion was used."

Across the globe, as defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO), "human trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of a person for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation can include: Forced labor or services, Slavery or practices similar to slavery, Servitude, Removal of organs, and Prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation."

The diverse nature and reality of human trafficking move us to frame our work in very distinct ways.  Our work began and continues to focus on the elimination of labor trafficking by offering a space and support to makers and partners from down the street to across the globe that encourage all of us to "put your money where your mind is" by supporting freedom, while starving off those who use  slave labor to profit and thrive.

There has never been a time like now to be on the right side of history.  You can, we can be a part of abolishing slavery.  We can.  And we must.

WHAT DO WE DO

Peace on Fifth is a team of volunteers, led by London Coe, across the globe who research human trafficking trends and where we can build partnerships to help fund freedom.  The vehicle we use to drive and teach our freedom mission is our traveling retail space and event services.  We all are participating in human trafficking, Peace on Fifth offers a slave free traceable commercial alternative... CHOCOLATE!!  We are thrilled to offer a remarkably special and creative collection of some of the rarest origins, diverse varieties of cacao, and from some of the most amazing farmers and makers doing incredible things like agroforestry and including alternative carbon neutral factors.  All so you have a better bar of chocolate AND you get to support freedom.  How great it that!

HOW MANY SLAVES WORK FOR YOU?

Picture
Slavery Footprint  is the brainchild of Justin Dillon, a documentarian who created the documentary film “Call+Response” to raise awareness about the victims human trafficking. The film opened eyes around the world to the issue, and engaged viewers to participate in the eradication of slavery.

To prevent slavery from persisting, we also had to focus on changing the systems that perpetuate it. Recognizing that forced labor accounts for the majority of slavery victims, we began working with businesses to find and eradicate forced labor from their supply chains. We also partnered with the US State Department to build Slaveryfootprint.org, which helps consumers learn about how they may be unwittingly complicit in the perpetuation of forced labor based on the products they buy.  - taken from https://madeinafreeworld.org/about
